Wiebe Hoogland - I started playing bridge in 1984 at the Ajax Duplicate Bridge Club with my spouse (with only 6 months of playing bridge under the belt) against the big guys (Trevor Dundas, Ian Coats, Keith Balcombe, John Duquette), with the odd success. I volunteered shortly thereafter to serve on the Board of Directors of the club as secretary. I have been involved in the administration of bridge ever since. We moved in 1994 to St. Catharines where I became shortly thereafter the Club Manager of the St. Catharines Thursday Evening Bridge Club and after amalgamation of the Bridge Centre of Niagara in 2001. I have filled the function of secretary of the Niagara District Bridge Association since 2000 and have been the chair of the NDBA Sectional Tournament since 2009. I was appointed to the Unit 166 Board of Directors in 2012. I am an average bridge player with over 900 masterpoints and play usually once and sometimes twice a week in small games at the Bridge Centre of Niagara.

In 1998, I received a Gatorade Salute during the 7th Inning Stretch of a Toronto Blue Jays game. A crowning moment among my volunteer experiences.

Chris Chambers - Bridge has been in my life since I was a child (missed opportunity as a child protégé), traveling with my parents to friends home for Friday night social bridge. I only started playing bridge after I left home and was working The Friday night social bridge tradition was continued, sans wife. Then a hiatus from bridge for about 5 years after arriving in Canada from Jamaica, was introduced to duplicated and as the saying goes the rest is history. I have tried to give something back to bridge by volunteering on various bridge boards.
