The event shall be composed of 4 Flights:

 

Open Championship Flight      No masterpoint limits

 

Flight A                                    Under 5000 masterpoints

 

Flight B                                     Under 2000 masterpoints

 

Flight C                                     Non-life master under 500 masterpoints

 

All flights are defined by masterpoint holdings as of September 1, 2010. The September masterpoint cycle (determined during the second week of August) will determine a player’s Flight eligibility. The events will not be stratified.

Team Movements for District 2 GNT Final

 

 

The intent is to have all events with two stages:  

                               1) Swiss Qualifying

                               2) KO Finals (and semi-finals if applicable)

 

Boards per KO session: Championship Flight – 26

                                                            Flight A - 26

                                                            Flight B – 24

                                                            Flight C – 24 

 

If there is a tie after the Semi-Final and/or Final knockout phase, a 4 board tie breaker will be held.

 

Swiss qualifying sessions are intended to be between 24 and 28 boards depending on the movement chosen.

 

Three Teams: 2 sessions

                       Format: Intertwined 3-ways

                            2-24 board matches – 2 sessions

                            Play it in 12 board halves

                      

Four Teams:  3 sessions

                       Swiss format: Head-on matches

                               3-16 board matches  - 2 sessions

                       Final: 2 teams – 1 session

 

Five Teams: 4 sessions

                     Swiss format:  Intertwined 3-ways

                               4-12 board matches - 2 sessions

                     Semi-final: 3 teams qualify, Format: 3-way – 1 session

                     Final: 2 teams qualify, 100% carry-over of common boards

                                from semi-final  - 1 session

 

Six Teams: 5 sessions

                   Swiss format: Head-on Matches

                             Double Round Robin

                             10-8 board matches (3 sessions)

                    Semi-final: 3 teams qualify, Format: 3-way – 1 session

                    Final: 2 teams qualify, 100% carry-over of common boards

                                from semi-final - 1 session


 

Seven Teams: 5 sessions

                       Swiss format: Intertwined 3-ways

                               6 matches of 12 (or 13) boards 3 sessions

                       Semi-final: 4 teams qualify, 1st chooses 3rd or 4th,

                                 2nd plays the other – 1 session

                       Final: 2 teams – 1 session

 

 

Eight Teams: 5 sessions

                      Swiss format: Head-on matches

                                 7-11 board matches – 3 sessions

                      Semi-final: 4 teams qualify, 1st chooses 3rd or 4th,

                                 2nd plays the other – 1 session

                       Final: 2 teams – 1 session

 

Nine Teams: 5 sessions

                      Swiss format: Intertwined 3-ways

                                8 matches of 9 or 10 boards – 3 sessions

                      Semi-final: 4 teams qualify, 1st chooses 3rd or 4th,

                                 2nd plays the other – 1 session

                       Final: 2 teams – 1 session

 

Ten Teams: 5 sessions

                       Swiss format: Head-on matches

                                 9 matches of  8 boards – 3 sessions

                       Semi-final: 4 teams qualify, 1st chooses 3rd or 4th,

                                 2nd plays the other – 1 session

                       Final: 2 teams – 1 session

 

Eleven Teams: 5 sessions

                        Swiss format: Intertwined 3-ways

                              10-8 board matches – 3 sessions

                        Semi-final: 4 teams qualify, 1st chooses 3rd or 4th,

                                 2nd plays the other – 1 session

                        Final: 2 teams – 1 session

 

Twelve Teams: 5 sessions

                          Swiss format: Head-on matches

                                 11-7 board matches – 3 sessions

                          Semi-final: 4 teams qualify, 1st chooses 3rd or 4th,

                                 2nd plays the other – 1 session

                          Final: 2 teams – 1 session

 

If more then 12 teams participate, the director in charge and the District Coordinator will decide the movement. The preferred method is a complete round robin, but this is not compulsory.
